Isabel de Velasco, worked as a “menina” of Queen Mariana of Austria from 1649 to 1659. "Menina" was a portuguese name for the maidens of honor of the Spanish Royal family. The portrait was made in 1656 by the painter Velázquez. It is one of the figures represented in the famous painting "Las Meninas", in which Isabel is doing a reverence. The subject of “Meninas” is and will always be a happening theme in the world of art, versioned by many unknown painters even Picasso himself.
